Zainab Sumu Primitive Modern combines indigenous and avant-garde elements to showcase the beauty, diversity and richness of West and North African cultures through authentic designs and textures. Each year we choose a country in North and West Africa and create a theme for our designs based on the unique culture of that country.
Inspired by a love of textiles, art, architecture, music, dance, travel, food and African traditions, we believe in an aesthetic where modernity and elegant imperfections collide.
Our team strives to design items that are versatile, timeless and functional, as well as create an emotional and aesthetic resonance with the wearer of each piece. Our customers love being able to speak to the designs and the culture that inspired them.
